Shane's Riverlife experience.. Simply the Best
As for my experience with Riverlife, simply put, it’s just an awesome place to work and to start off a new career in. The staff and managers in River Life are so welcoming. I have met a lot of people who have been so friendly and kind that it has felt like I have a whole new family in Australia. I get to learn lots of things and increase my communication skills and gain good experience in an Australian cultured company. The best part of my internship is that during my second week they sent me to an Island called Tangalooma to help out with some of their tours, and it was the most amazing place I have ever been in my life. I had loads of fun. And I love working at Riverlife Brisbane.

My first day in Riverlife!!!
Hi everyone, my name is David and I'm a new marketing
intern in Riverlife. I really enjoyed my first day of internship since
it's so interesting and fun to work in this friendly environment. I
also got a chance to try the Segway, which is a new service that will be
launched very soon. Segway is very easy to learn and I really
hopethat I can ride this thing in my every working day.
This job is very interesting for me since I
can utilize and link both marketing and tourism knowledge that I have
learn from university and apply them into the real
workplace, I look forward to face every challenges and expand
my skills.
I will enjoy my every day in Riverlife.

Adventure Intern - Maria
Hi Everyone!
My name is Maria and I’m a new adventure intern here at Riverlife!
This internship has educated me in many areas of the tourism industry such as customer service and recording adventure bookings - just to name a few! The aspect I like most about this internship is that here, at Riverlife, everyone works with each other to create the best experience for the customer whilst also having fun in the process.
As part of my “training” here I have been fortunate enough to try out our new Segways! They are soo much fun and easy to drive – which surprised me because I’m not very coordinated! I can’t wait to try the other activities here – purely for “training” purposes haha.

Hi guys, Im Debbie, a new inter at Riverlife. This is a great work experience to know more about the reality in Business. New Intern Here!!!
Hi everyone I'm Callie. I am from China and I am the new intern in Riverlife for the third week!!! So I am not actually a very new one~~ Life in Riverlife is always busy but interesting. Our league are all young people so its really happy for us work together. And we can easily know each other well.
These weeks we got a few large groups came to us, like some school students. After they kayaking they all said they are falling in love with this sport, its really attractive. Even in the days which do not have good weather, many people came to us to hire bikes, Rollerblades or did abseiling. I believed that everyone will find their favorite one in Riverlife!
I only left about a few weeks in Riverlife, it is really hard to say goodbye because this is a pretty good memory for me. Hope everyone can have fun in Riverlife!!

Another lovely day at Riverlife...
Hey everyone,
Time for another update!
Despite the colder weather, we're still keeping busy. During the past few weeks we've seen quite a few large groups come in from all over the place! A few weeks ago brought a large group of high school students who tried their skills at abseiling and kayaking, and an international business group looking to learn the art of rock climbing. More recently, we had an amazing race group come through. The participants had to abseil and then kayak to a specific point on the river to get their next clue! They were the fastest abseiler's and kayaker's I'd ever seen...
On Sunday June 23, Riverlife is hosting the event "Squirt", which is to celebrate equal love in Brisbane. We've been preparing for the event by drawing our very own rainbow outside the centre, and by creating awareness with our flyers around Kangaroo Point. You can learn more about the event here http://www.squirtbrisbane.com.au/! Hope to see you there!
On days when we're all caught up with our work, we like to have some fun. This past Tuesday, Olivia, a week-long work experience student, and I tested out the segway's again. We had a lot of fun testing the speed of those things ;).
Well, that's all for today! Until next time...
Destiny :)

Last day at office
Okay, this is the day.
The day you start thinking what's been happening in last six months. The day you have no idea what's going to happen next. After the day you don't see some people ever again. The day to say goodbye.
Yes, it's my last day here. My two internships are about to be done!
Feeling happy. But at the same time a bit empty and sad. What's going to happen next? What am I going to do?
I am definitely going to miss these workmates. Happy smiles and afternoon coffees.
Finishing here also means that leaving the country is getting closer and closer. Going back to school, figuring out what should I do with my life and studies. Planing my next year. Pretty excited about that though! Big plans again, time to take over the next continent.
But who's going to take my place as a blog writer? I have my doubts but I think you will find that out soon!
Let's see if I have some pictures for you today...

Segway fun
Ola ladies and gents!
It has been a busy but wonderful week here at Riverlife as we have everyone down at Riverlife to celebrate someone special.
We’ve had bookings for birthday celebrations, had two weddings on the weekend and of course had plenty of mothers come in as a treat from their loved ones.
We also have been playing with our Segways a little more in preparation for the launch of our tours that’s in store. Keep an eye out on our Facebook for weekly ideas as to what we can do with our Segways (see the below photo re: coffee on wheels!).
And there’s always a bit of sadness in the fun, when one of our staff Ghazi has finished his internship and moved on with his studies. Our party at work? Sharing chocolate indulgent smoothies with a whole lot of laughter on the side. We wish you all the best Ghazi!
Until next time amigos – we’re sure you’ll be having some adventures wherever you are!

Hey I'm Destiny!
Hey there,
My name's Destiny and I'm from Toronto, Canada. I've been living in Brisbane since March while studying at Griffith University. I have been an intern here at Riverlife for about three weeks now, and am loving it! The location and people alone make Riverlife a great place to work at. So far, I've been working mostly with customers, keeping the place clean and tidy...and trying to make coffee.
On Sunday May 5, Riverlife hosted a Cinco de Mayo party, which was a great success! Everyone had lots of fun enjoying the music, drinks and party atmosphere.
Come stop by for any of our activities, or grab a coffee...I need the practice making them!
Have a good one, eh? :)

Namaste Everyone...$hekhar here :)
Hello Everyone
I am an intern in Riverlife and have been working here for nearly two months. I moved to Australia in November 2012 as part of my campus exchange to James Cook University from Singapore. I am orignally from India and come from the city of Bollywood - Mumbai.
Working in riverlife is always fun. I love the view of the city from my work place. It has one of the best views of Brisbane. From Kayaking to Rockclimbing, Rollerblading to Bike riding, Amazing BBQs, Lively events and a super cool staff to work with. What more can an intern ask for?.
I love interacting with new customers who come from all over the world. At work I also get to assist in the field of Marketing and come up with innovative ideas. Having awesome collegues at work makes work more fun and something to look forward to.
Today I got to try our new Segways which are totally AWESOME. I feel like Aladdin on a magic carpet. This place is full of new surprises. Next time you are in Riverlife drop by and have a chat. See ya
Cheers

Hannes is here!
Hi there,
I am one of the three new Adventure Interns at Riverlife.
Whats working at Riverlife like?
Well my colleagues are great. There are two other interns that started at the same time as me. Shekhar, a 22 year old bloke from India and Erin, a 22 year old girl from China. We got Intern Training by Fanny, a 22 year old girl from Finland and the managers that supervise us are not much older than we are. So we are a multicultural mix of young friendly people.
The customers that come here are mostly adventurous people looking for something fun to do so helping them is everything but boring. And today we had a really odd customer. His name is Elvis and he has green belly and blue tongue. We usually treat our customers very friendly but we decided to pull Elvis' tail while he was on his way to have a look at the slushee machines. So Elvis, if you read this, please don't take it personal but you scare the **** out of people ;)
That's it for today so if you want to hear more just stop by and have a chat.
Cheers!

Hi I'm Erin, an intern in Riverlife!
Hi everyone!
I am Erin. I have been working here as an intern for 1 month.
It's really an enjoyable time working with nice people here and I also learned a lot from you! It is an amazing company with so many interesting adventures here.
I tried the kayak in one afternoon. Riverside is very beautiful and the wind passed around me that makes my first kayaking experience so good. I want to introduce Riverlife to all my friends to go kayaking!

Busy times
Hi everyone,
no one has been writing in awhile, sorry about that! I hope your Easter was great and you ate looooot of chocolate. At least I did! ... and I still do.
We have had busy weeks here; big school groups, Easter and City Council's Gold'n program. Fun times!
Last week we had 75 person school groups kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling and stand up paddle boarding. Busy but fun week. Me by myself went kayaking with stand up paddle boarders! Hot and chill days in the water.
Easter was quite busy, lot of kayakers and people having coffees on a deck. Such a nice way to spend sunny days I reckon!
Monday and Tuesday we had City Councils Gold'n program which is program for grandparents and grandchildren. This time we had kayaking, abseiling, rock climbing and stand up paddle boarding. Grandparents and -children seemed to enjoy of their time together :)

Who's writing today?
Hello there,
it's not raining! Great day for to go kayaking or rollerblading, shame that I'm at work.
I think it's finally time to introduce myself.
I am Riverlife's Finnish intern, Fanny. I have been working here almost 3 months now and still have couple of months to go. My first plan was to stay here 3 months. But what happened then.. I love to be here and I got an opportunity to do my second internship here at Riverlife as well so I changed my flights and got agreements from school and now I'm staying. Couldn't be happier :)
"You are from Finland, how did you decide to come to Australia and Riverlife?"
Well, it's winter in Finland. -25C. It's summer in Australia. +25C. Which one would you choose?
What about Riverlife then? I'm pretty good friend with one thing called Google. I told him that I want to go to Australia, Queensland, Brisbane and do my internship; activities, adventure, experience, event. He showed me couple of examples where to ask and I did. Now I'm working at Adventure Centre Riverlife.
First internship finished and second started. First one was customer service and the second one contains more management stuff. Looking forward to see what's happening on next 2 months!

New interns and Mirrabooka
Our dear sun is back again! At least partly...
We got our new interns here today and started to train them. Yayy! I'm so excited.
Fun things going on today. Mirrabooka guys came here to do their performance and we had school group watching it. Here's couple of pictures from the performance:
| Look at that cute little guy performing today! |
I saw my first Mirrabooka performance last week and it was exciting to hear more about aboriginal culture. You should come and see it too! More info here.
I spent my day with our new intern-babies from India, Holland and China. We were training how to set up cafe and Centre, practicing kayak briefings.. Basically training everything. The day was success and we are going to have three more awesome customer servers! Welcome Shekhar, Erin and Hannes :)

| Training :) |
I just started second part of my internship and I am keen to get started. So interesting things coming up :)
Maybe it would be time to introduce myself too... But just to keep your interest up, I'm not going to do that today. Next time ;)

"Hey,
my names is Joshua and I am from Gladstone, Queensland, Australia.
I have been with Riverlife for about 1 and a half months. I am currently living in Brisbane studying at uni. I am a current Intern with Riverlife and I am very much enjoying my time here. During my time here I have been doing everything from taking orders at the desk to setting up gear for activities.
In my opinion I will benefit from every real world experience I am having throughout this internship."

Rainy day at Riverlife
Centre is quiet. No kayakers or rollerbladers. Meeting upstairs. Function girls running around. Big cup of hot chocolate would taste good.
It's raining.
Rainy day in Brisbane again. Sun was here with us couple of days ago - where is it now??

Starting a blog is always so hard. What to post first? What is this blog about? Who am I? Who are the other writers?
At first, what is this? Why are we writing a blog?
This blog is going to be Adventure Centre Riverlife's blog. The writers are Riverlife's interns from around the world. Finland's here at the moment!
The staff here is very international so you are going to read different kind of Riverlife experiences from people around the world. While staying here I have been working with people from China, Hong Kong, Africa, Netherlands, Norway, Australia, America... Where are you guys from? I'll let you introduce yourselves.
This is going to be interesting, so stay tuned!
